Jaguar Cuts Production as Demand Weakens
Jaguar has become the latest manufacturer with UK factories to cut production as new car demand across Europe and the United States continues to weaken.

The marque will scale back production from its Birmingham plant at the end of the month. The move follows similar action by sister company Land Rover as well as Toyota and Bentley.
Jaguar is still to decide on the scale of its action, but it is thought likely that it will cut at least one shift at its Castle Bromwich factory, which employs 2,600 people to make the XJ, XK and new XF.
Other car manufacturers are also expected to look at cutting production in response to the sales slide. Premium brands such as Jaguar have been particularly badly hit as motorists hold back from buying amid the credit crunch.
In the UK, September sales are believed to be very poor, suppressed both by consumer confidence and by a lack of available finance for car loans.
