Jaguar Type 01 Kicks Off A Very Different Future For The Brand
The four-door GT is the first production Jaguar on the company’s new JEA platform, with more than 1,000 PS on tap.
Jaguar has pulled the covers off its new Type 01 in New York, marking the beginning of what it calls a new era for the British brand.
The four-door electric GT is the first production Jaguar built on the company’s new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). It produces more than 1,000 PS, making it the most powerful road-going Jaguar yet.
An 850V electrical system gives the Type 01 a claimed 450-mile (724 km) WLTP range. With a 350 kW charger, Jaguar says 200 miles (322 km) can be added in 13 minutes.
The styling is just as dramatic, with a low roof, long bonnet and sleek bodywork. Jaguar says the design takes inspiration from legendary models including the E-type and XJS.
The New York launch included digital displays around the city before the Type 01 made its dynamic arrival at STORIED in West Chelsea.
Jaguar also announced actor Florence Pugh as its first brand ambassador for the new era.
Designed, engineered and built in the UK, the Type 01 will be followed by a new generation of Jaguar models. Pricing and order details have yet to be announced.
