Lexus claims that the CT200h is the first hybrid model in the segment which is contested by models like the Audi A3 as well as the BMW 1 Series. the CT's competitors though, lack the sophisticated and green hybrid drive train in the new Lexus model.

Petrol power is supplied by a 1.8-litre 98bhp four pot motor. Together with the motor, the CT's drive system produces 134bhp, good enough for a 10.3 seconds 0-100km/h time. The drive train is actually derived from the current generation Prius's while drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

Inside, the CT200h offers a spacious cabin with renowned Lexus quality and finishing. Three variants will be offered - base, Plus and Premium. The three models differ only in terms of trim level. Prices range from $153,000 to $170,000 after the GVR Green Vehicle Rebate.
