Some 800 drivers attended the Bosch Automotive CARnival last Saturday on 14 Aug 2010 at Dempsey Hill. The inaugural CARnival aimed to drive home the message that prevention is better than cure when it comes to timely servicing and maintenance of a car.

There are many risks that a vehicle will potentially encounter. Drivers often send their cars to a workshop for repair or maintenance without knowing what really goes into the engine of their car.
Bosch, the world’s leading automotive parts and services provider, hopes to rectify that. Says Mr Michael Goh, Country Manager of Bosch Singapore and Cambodia, Automotive Aftermarket, “Bosch aims to share good car maintenance habits with drivers who may lack knowledge of car care. The inaugural automotive CARnival has helped us to reach out and educate consumers on the importance of timely servicing and maintenance to maximize the lifespan of their cars and achieve optimal performance,”

Among the important car maintenance tips shared were top ten potential risks that cars in Singapore face. These include brake and airbag systems failure; faulty steering system, battery, wipers, lights and door locking mechanism; worn-out tyres; as well as electrical system and engine malfunctions.

Car owners and motoring enthusiasts were also treated to a wide range of activities to entertain the entire family. Besides useful car maintenance tips, they learnt about Bosch’s 10 categories of automotive products and why they are every driver’s “must-haves”.
Some 120 cars registered at the Bosch Car Service Workshop to enjoy complimentary car diagnosis. Queues started forming as early as 8am.

“I thought that I should be early just in case I had to wait very long. The diagnostic check was very comprehensive and I’m glad I made the trip down. Now I know what to look out for during my next servicing,” said Jeremy Teo, 34, a research analyst.
Mechanics flagged out potential risks that cars might face, and owners could make appointments with Bosch Car Service workshops for further inspections to rectify problems.

“It is important that drivers and car owners know what goes into their car. Buying cheaper, poor quality spare parts may save you a few dollars. Yet, in the long run, damages to your engine require expensive repairs or worse still, breakdowns or accidents,” Mr Goh adds.

The installation of many of Bosch’s star products in most categories of cars today is a proven testimony of Bosch’s unparalleled leadership position in the automotive aftermarket. These range from batteries, spark plugs and oxygen sensors to carbon cabin filters, wiper blades and brake pads for better field efficiency and safety.
