Local News: Faster and more frugal Audi TT arrives in Singapore

Dynamic design, enthralling performance and exemplary efficiency – the Audi TT Coupé and Roadsters are now more attractive than ever. Both the design of the lightweight aluminium body and the interior have been revised with Audi’s trademark attention to detail, while new technologies lower the car’s fuel consumption. With its powerful and highly efficient 2.0 TFSI engine, the new Audi TT delivers 211 bhp with an average fuel consumption of just 6.6 litres per 100 kilometres.

A key factor for the groundbreaking efficiency and excellent driving dynamics of the Audi TT is the body, which features hybrid Audi Space Frame technology (ASF). Lightweight aluminium is used at the front of the car back to the B-pillar, with steel panels used at the rear. The mix makes it possible to finely balance the axle loads and keep the overall weight extremely low. With the new body weighing just 206 kilograms (140 kilograms of aluminium and 66 kilograms of steel), the Audi TT weighs a mere 1,240 kilograms, a good 100 kilograms less than its competitors.

The classic cloth top of the TT Roadster is a perfect complement to Audi’s lightweight construction principle. It contributes to a low center of gravity, fits perfectly into the design line and takes up little space when open. Audi offers the soft top in two variants: the manual version features a central latch for opening and closing the top; and an electrohydraulic drive opens the optional fully-automatic top in just 12 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Like its stunning exterior, the interior of the TT features sporty design, dynamic elegance and uncompromising fit and finish, with accents provided by new aluminium-look applications and rings, and frames and strips in high-gloss black. The aluminium strip above the glove box door is now brushed grey, with three interior colours from which to choose. The leather seat covers are also specially treated to reduce thermal heating by as much as 20 degrees Celsius when the TT is parked in the sun.

Audi Singapore will offer the new Audi TT with a 2.0 TFSI engine that combines sporty performance with groundbreaking efficiency – fuel consumption figures have been reduced by up to 1.1 litres per 100 kilometres (14 percent). The engine will work with a recuperation system that recovers energy during braking and coasting phases, and deliver 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 4,200 rpm.

With its six-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission, the TT is able to switch between its six gears extremely quickly with no perceptible interruption to power, and the turbocharged two-litre engine accelerates the TT from zero to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds on its way to a top speed of 245 km/h. For such levels of performance, the TT 2.0 TFSI consumes just 7.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres in the European test cycle, and emits 164 grams of CO2 per km.

One of the high-tech options in the new Audi TT is the electronically-controlled Audi magnetic ride shock absorber system. A computer controls the adaptive damping, with two base characteristics now more clearly differentiated from one another. In “Normal” mode, the movements of the TT Coupé are both agile and comfortable; in “Sport” mode, high damping forces largely suppress body motion. Drivers will also be able to choose having a ‘Sport’ button to adjust the characteristics of the car.

The new Audi TT also comes with a wide array of standard equipment. Among the highlights are the “symphony” audio system, a Bluetooth interface, iPod fitting, driver information system, Bose Surround Sound system and an automatic climate control system. The onboard computer with efficiency program comes standard in the TT. It presents all consumption-relevant data on the central display, and gives tips for efficient driving. Another function indicates the energy consumption of the individual systems in the vehicle, and how they influence fuel consumption.
