Local News: Price drops after close of COE bidding on 23 June

Volvo S60 T6 - $203,799 (-$39,201)
Volvo has cut the price of its entry level SUV by a whopping $39,201 this week. The XC60 posesses all the virtues of the XC90 but in a smaller, five seater package. Safety is a key selling point – other than the usual airbags, stability control systems and so on, the XC60 comes standard with City Safety, a low speed anti-collision system. The T6 turbocharged lump offers sufficient performance but can be a tad thirsty.

Volvo V50 2.0 (A) - $144,799 (-$29,201)
With a sticker price of just under $145k, the entry-level S40 is the most affordable Volvo estate you can buy. For your money, you get an estate model from a prestige Swedish brand, a nicely crafted interior, unparalleled safety features and an efficient twin clutch gearbox. There are downsides though – the engine can sound a bit gruff and the interior is short of space at the rear but at almost 30 grand cheaper than a couple of weeks ago, who can complain?

Mercedes-Benz C180 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY - $144,888 ( -$19,000)
Mercedes-Benz has reduced the price of the base C-Class saloon model by $19,000, making it ceven more competitively priced against the likes of the base BMW 318i and Audi A4. Despite its base model status, the turbocharged C180 offers sufficient performance and the usual virtues of a Merc saloon model.

Mercedes-Benz C200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY - $163,888 (-$15,000)
The C180’s four-cylinder sibling is also more affordable this week. With a drop in price of $15k, the C200 holds on to its price slightly better than the $19k cheaper C180. The C200’s 163bhp makes it more sprightly and convincing than the C180 in the performance stakes and is also better equipped than the base model.

Subaru Impreza 1.5R 4-door - $66,999 to $69,999 (-$7,501)
The entry-level Impreza sedan sees a significant $7,501 lower sticker price this week. The Subaru offers composed and surefooted road manners thanks to all-wheel drive and its well-honed chassis. The engine is short on poke but it is silky smooth and makes a nice off-beat noise.

Other than the abovementioned models, car buyers will also save on other Mercedes models like the popular E-Class as well as the Nissan Murano and Mitsubishi Lancer models. Please visit this link for the full list of price drops: http://www.oneshift.com/pdb/car_price_change.php
