MY: More than S$900,000 in fines collected

The Malaysian Traffic Police have collect more than S$900,000 in outstanding fines from Singaporean Motorists. The operation, which lasted 6 days from the 27th of December to the 1st of January, saw more than 13,000 drivers being pulled over at Johor Bahru’s immigration checkpoints. Of the S$900,000 collected, S$500,000 was paid in cash, whilst the remaining S$400,000 were paid using credit cards. According to Malaysian authorities, routine operations will be conducted regularly. Thankfully, the operations are not targeted at Singaporeans alone; the Malaysian Traffic Police intends to crack down on errant motorists regardless of their nationality.
