The new MINI convertible is set to debut later this year at the Detroit Auto Show. The car will be based on the current chassis, but have a few significant changes.
The top will be updated to allow for a bigger rear glass window. New pop-up roll bars will replaced the fixed hoops on the current car. This should go a long way towards increasing rear visibility.
To further up the fun factor, MINI will also introduce more color options, along with an available "black chrome" interior trim. Also included is an "always open" gauge. This gauge simply lets the driver know the percentage of the total mileage that was driven with the top down.
As for engine choices, expect the MINI to come in Cooper and Cooper S trims. A John Cooper Works version is also expected to be available upon the car's launch.
