Nissan's muted response
After Porsche claimed that Nissan cheated their way to a lightning-quick Nurburgring lap time, Nissan had this short response.
As reported earlier, Porsche acquired a U.S.-spec GTR, drove it around the legendary Nurburgring, and announced that their best time was a 7 min 54 second lap. Twenty-five seconds slower than Nissan's proud claim.
Porsche then accused Nissan of using special tyres to achieve the said lap time.
Nissan's response was very brief. European spokesman Neil Reeve stated: "We're not going to get into a war of words with Porsche. The final word from us is that it was done on absolutely standard tyres which are available to customers in the showroom. Normal Dunlop road tires, that come with the car!"
