Pioneer aims for a new high with its latest speaker range

Pioneer Electronics has just launched its new range of high-end car audio speakers, dubbed the Premier Reference Series (PRS). They go on sale at all Pioneer dealers in the region from the month of July. The PRS speaker range utilize two major breakthroughs in speaker design: the multi-layer cone and micro-fiber surround.

The microfiber surround material has a higher internal loss characteristic than many other materials, resulting in a more linear and realistic sound quality, especially in the upper midrange. Pianos and similar instruments come across with more detail.

The multi layer cone is made of composite foam injected molded polypropylene (IMPP). The use of aramid and glass fibres ensures cone rigidity without increasing weight. The result is a stiff speaker cone that keeps distortion and unwanted harmonics to the bare minimum, undetectable by the human ear.

The PRS series features two prepackaged component speaker systems, and three other individually available drivers consisting of a 17cm mid bass speaker, a 10cm midrange speaker and a 28mm soft-dome tweeter. the prepackaged component speaker sets also feature a diplayable crossover circuit box.

They are now available at all oficial Pioneer dealers.
