Porsche Centre Singapore and Team Porsche Club Singapore Racing raises S$65,888 for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund
72 Porsches, from the Porsche Clubs of Singapore and Hong Kong, came together for the first ever “Ride of a lifetime” – Porsche Charity Track Day.

Raising S$65,888 for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, the one-day event held at the Sepang International Circuit was jointly organised by Porsche Centre Singapore and Team Porsche Club Singapore Racing.
The Charity Track Day allowed donors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be driven around the Sepang International Circuit in exclusive Porsche race-cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and the 911 GT3 Cup Car, by experienced Porsche race car drivers Mok Weng Sun, Tan Ian-Mao, Darryl O’ Young, and Sven Herberger.
Additionally, donors who gave a minimum amount of S$300 were entitled to a 3-hour track session with their own Porsches, providing them with the opportunity to test the full capabilities of their cars on the track.
Mr Karsono Kwee, the Executive Chairman of Porsche Centre Singapore said, “This event presents Porsche and our valued customers with an excellent opportunity to give something to the children supported by the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, illustrating how we try to engage in ways to give something back to the community while keeping in line with Porsche’s legendary motor sports heritage.”
Taking some time off his testing schedule for the upcoming Merdeka Millenium Endurance (MME) Race to participate at this charity event, Mr Mok Weng Sun, lead driver and team principal of Team Porsche Club Singapore Racing, who is also the winner of class B of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Season 2007, said, “It is a privilege to be part of this charity event, and to allow the donors to have a unique racing
experience in some of Porsche’s exclusive race-cars. I had a lot of fun driving them around the circuit, and it is extra meaningful for me, knowing that all proceeds from this event will go to a charitable cause.”
Participants at the event were also offered a rare glimpse of the 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Porsche’s most powerful production-based racing car, being run on track for the very first time.
This event even attracted 37 Porsches from Porsche Club Hong Kong, which were shipped in for the event. They were joined by 35 of their Singapore counterparts, 14 of which drove up in a convoy from Porsche Centre Singapore on the morning of the event itself.
