Saab seat still the safest
Most cars have crumple zones, multiple airbags and various electronic gadgets to govern the brakes and engine to prevent accidents and keep its driver safe, but only Saab has taken the trouble to develop a safe seat, and this has paid off in the results recent independent survey.

The Thatcham Motor Insurance Repair Centre in England conducts an annual survey of whiplash injuries after a car accident, and for the second year running, it has commended the Swedish car maker for its Saab Active Head Restraints (SAHR).
This seat was developed for the 9-5 ten years ago, and is installed in the front seats of all Saab models. In the event of a rear-end collision, a maintenance-free mechanism within the seat back thrusts the headrest forward the moment the body falls back into the seat, minimising injury to the neck and reducing the chance of whiplash.
While Saab and other Swedish carmakers regard whiplash protection a high priority, of the 20 German premium cars surveyed, just a fifth of those were ranked ‘good’, whilst a worrying 25 per cent were ranked as ‘poor’.
So, while most judge a car seat on its comfort and figure hugging shape, perhaps it should really be considered a safety cell that can protect one from injury.
