The BAR-Honda driver locked up while trying to follow Schumacher past Narain Karthikeyan at the restart after the safety car.

He slammed into the back of the Ferrari, breaking its rear wing and suspension, and spinning it around, before crunching into the front of it as the two cars came to rest interlocked in the La Source run-off area.

Schumacher angrily approached Sato immediately afterwards, and was fiercely critical of his driving.

The stewards agreed, and decreed that Sato should be moved ten places down the grid after qualifying for the next race at Interlagos.
