SG: A look at the 2015 WRX
Subaru’s recipe has been simple- introduce small facelifts to keep the cars modern while retaining the base platform and that sweet sounding Boxter engine. This has been a highly successful recipe for Subaru, which raked up 5 WRC titles with various WRXes. For the 2015 model year, Subaru tried something totally radical and built a totally new car inside and out. The car, which debuted as a stunning concept car, was announced for production last year, and Subaru drummed up promotion by letting one of their star drivers, Bucky Lamsek, to pilot the all new car in a commercial. The interior has been redesigned too. Swede and soft touch materials give the car a bit of class, and the bucket seats are really comfy. The rear could do with a bit more legroom though, and the boot could be larger as well. The 2015 WRX is powered by a 268hp 2.0 litre Direct Injection Turbo (DIT) Boxer engine, where as its STI cousin is fuelled by a well proven 2.5 litre turbocharged Boxer engine with 305bhp, both available with a 6 speed manual. The combo should be able to rocket the lightweight shell up to a 100km/h in less than 6 seconds.
