SG: Cement mixer driver charged in court for fatal crash

Earlier this year, a fatal crash involving 2 brothers and a cement truck occured at Tampines. The crash took away the lives of Nigel Yap Yew Cheong, 13, and Donavan Yap Teck Siong, 7. After a couple of months, the cement mixer driver, 57 year old Munir Mohd Naim has seen charged in court. The 57 year old caused the death of the two brothers due to a negligent act at the traffic light cross junction of Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Street 45 on 28th January this year. He failed to keep a proper lookout before turning left into Tampines Street 45 from Tampines Avenue 9 as the traffic light was showing 'green' in his favour. The pedestrian traffic light was also 'green' when the crash occured.

Munir Mohd has been granted bail until 23rd July before he has to reappear in court. Once convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years or a fine, ot both.
