SG: Citroen Adds The C5 e-HDI And The DS5 e-HDI To The Diesel Range

Cycle & Carriage France Pte Ltd has added two new models to its diesel range: The C5 1.6L e-HDi 115 EGS and CITROËN DS5 1.6L e- HDi 115 ETG. Together with the C4 e-HDi and DS4 e-HDi models, all the diesel cars in the Citroen range are mated to a 1.6L turbo-charged engine and will fall into Category A COE from February 2014 with the new COE re-categorization scheme. The diesel range is part of CITROËN’s “Airdream” eco-range, which was started in 2007 to focus on producing vehicles with low CO2 emissions. 1) Emit no more than 140g of CO2 per kilometre

2) Be produced in an ISO 14001 certified plant

3) Are 95% recoverable, which means all steps are taken to recover vehicle materials for energy.

CITROËN’s diesel models are fitted with a Stop&Start System and an e-HDi micro-hybrid technology that cuts carbon emissions by about 5g/km in homologation cycles and 15% in heavy traffic in cities. Its latest additions, the C5 e-HDi and DS5 e-HDi, boast a low carbon emission of 120g/km and 112g/km, as well as a combined fuel consumption of 4.6 litres/ 100km and 4.3 litres/100km respectively. Both models qualify for a $15,000 CEVS rebate.

Compared to the past, diesel cars now are more advanced in technology and are cleaner, quieter and more powerful. In general, diesel cars are known to deliver greater torque compared to its petrol counterparts. Unknown to many drivers in Singapore, the diesel special tax has also been reduced to $0.40/cc per year since the start of 2013. With lower fuel costs per litre and reduced special tax, drivers are ensured greater fuel savings, combined with the impeccable CITROËN styling when they opt for a CITROËN diesel car.
