SG: Fire breaks out at Traffic Police headquarters.

A fire broke out at the Traffic Police headquarters along Ubi Avenue 3 yesterday. The SCDF received a call for help at around 1 pm, and dispatched a fire engine, one Red Rhino, and two fire bikes to the scene. Although eyewitnesses claim that there were loud explosions and very thick smoke, the fire was extinguished with two water jets in 10 minutes. There were no fatalities, although a 29-year-old woman had to be taken to was Changi General Hospital (CGH) for smoke inhalation. Nine motorcycles and a portion of the wall were damaged in the inferno. . An eyewitness, 40 year old Ms Dianna Quek, said that she could see and hear three loud explosions that “caused fireballs". She gathered with her colleagues to watch what they thought was a police demonstration.

The damage was kept to a minimum in this incident as there was a fire station nearby. Ms Quek added that if the fire engines didn't come fast enough, “the fire would have surely spread to the other vehicles in the carpark".

Investigations are ongoing.
