SG: Less caught misusing bus lanes

As a more buses are being equipped with CCTV cameras, less are misusing the bus lane. This is part of LTA’s enhanced measures to reduce waiting and travelling time for commuters. Over 300 more buses have been retrofitted with said cameras since May, bringing the total population of CCTV-equipped buses to 3,600. Since the 1st of January 2014, there were 768 cases of motorists using the bus lanes during restricted hours were recorded, slightly less than half of the 1,560 cases for 2013. The decrease can also be attributed to the additional road markings showing the operational hours of full-day bus lanes. The added information has proven so useful in keeping motorists out, that the LTA has plans to paint all full-day bus lanes with the same markings.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
