SG: Mercedes best selling marque in 2013
3871 Mercs were registered for Singaporean roads in 2013. The German Automaker claimed top spot in the sales list, piping fellow German marque BMW with 3730, and Japanese giant Toyota with 3459. This figure tallies with estimates forecasted by experts. The German Automakers have been battling for top spot for a few years now, although Mercedes Benz led BMW most of the time. Before they came into the frame, Toyota took the top step for 9 straight years from 2002. This will not last though, for many expect the revisions in the COE categorisation to enable Toyota to regain top spot again, for BMW and Mercedes-Benz will exit the segment. However, once their new cars that fit the criterion are launched, they may be back in the running. With all the revised regulations, it seems as though no fixed manufacturer will claim the top spot for the next couple of years in a row. This will make a series of rather interesting moves, as manufacturers reconfigure and import new cars to suit the new categorisation in a bid to claim the top spot, hopefully, leaving consumers with more choices.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
