SG: Roads closed for widening
As part of the widening works Keppel Road and Keppel Viaduct, the roads leading to the affected stretch will be temporarily closed to traffic from 1.00am to 5.00am daily. Keppel Road (Telok Blangah bound) between Cantonment Road and Cantonment Link, will be closed on the 6th of May, and commuters are to use Use PSA Gate 1 Parallel Slip Road to get to their locations. Keppel Road (MCE bound) between Cantonment Link and Cantonment Road, will also be shut down on the 6th of May, and motorists will have to use Cantonment Link to get to Cantonment Road and the MCE. A few roads will be closed for more than just 1 day. The first two to be closed for more than a day, will be Keppel Road (towards Telok Blangah) after Cantonment Link junction, and the slip road from Keppel Road to Keppel Flyover [AYE(Tuas)]. These roads will be closed on the 6, 7 and 8 May 2014, and motorists will have to use Cantonment Link to Cantonment Road, and turn left to Neil Road and use Jalan Bukit Merah Road/Lower Delta Road to AYE (Tuas), and use the same Cantonment Link to Cantonment Road route, but turn left to Neil Road and use Kampong Bahru Road to Telok Blangah. 6 & 12 May 2014 will see 2 roads being closed.
The slip Road to Keppel Road from AYE(MCE)- Exit 2B and Keppel Road (towards MCE) to Cantonment Link. For the first closure, there are 2 alternatives to get to where you are heading towards. Get off AYE(MCE) at Exit 3, turn left to Lower Delta Road and use Jalan Bukit Merah to Kg Bahru Road. Turn right to Blair Road for Spottiswoode Park Road and Cantonment Link.
The 2nd route involves using the Keppel Viaduct. Exit MCE (Exit 2) to Central Blvd, turn left to Shenton Way and use Keppel Road to Cantonment Link or Spottiswoode Park Road. The other closure also has 2 suggested alternative routes according to the LTA, and they involve using the slip road to AYE(Tuas) and exit AYE(Tuas) at Exit 3. Turn right to Lower Delta Road and use Jalan Bukit Merah to Kg Bahru Road. Turn right to Blair Road for Spottiswoode Park Road and Cantonment Link. The other alternatives is to use the up-ramp for Keppel Viaduct and exit MCE (Exit 2) to Central Blvd. Turn left to Shenton Way and use Keppel Road to Cantonment Link or Spottiswoode Park Road.
It sure is and will be confusing on the affected days, but it shouldn’t really affect the majority of us too much, for most of us will be in bed when the affected roads are shut!
