The “CH” in the vehicle name stands for “compact hybrid” and its underlying concept can best be defined by contrasting it with the Prius mid-size class. The design of the FT-CH—created by Toyota Europe Design Development in Nice, France—evokes the spirit and functionality of a vehicle that thrives in an urban environment. It also the perfect size to be nimble, responsive and maneuverable.

The FT-CH concept car rides on a wheelbase that is shorter than the Prius. It is shorter in overall length yet loses less-than-an-inch in overall width. In spite of its compact external dimensions FT-CH was designed for maximum passenger comfort and interior roominess.
