These cars will be sold alongside the current petrol-powered versions, which are already among the cleanest and most economical in their respective classes.

In the first nine months of 2012, 82 percent of Volkswagen cars delivered to customers in Singapore had CO2 emissions of 160 g/km or less. Under CEVS, vehicles which fall into this category qualify for rebates of between $5,000 and $20,000.

Volkswagen is committed to lowering the CO2 emissions of its new vehicle fleet worldwide. The introduction of the TDI model range in Singapore gives motorists here an even wider line-up of low-emissions Volkswagen cars to choose from, while benefiting from substantial CEVS rebates.

Even before these rebates are taken into account, Volkswagen’s TDI cars will be sold at the same price as their equivalent petrol models.

Apart from being very environmentally-friendly, the latest generation of Volkswagen TDI cars are extremely fun to drive. With strong torque and effortless acceleration available from low engine speeds, they are ideally suited to urban driving.

Full pricing and specifications details of all the TDI models will be announced on 6 December 2012
