Weiming Soh assumes responsibility for VW sales in Greater China and ASEAN

Weiming Soh will also take charge of the sales activities of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the ASEAN countries including Singapore.

In this new capacity, Weiming Soh will report direct to Christian Klingler, member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand with responsibility for Sales and Marketing.

Soh, born in Singapore, joined Volkswagen at the beginning of 2005. As Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, he is responsible for the commercial activities of Volkswagen Group China on the Chinese markets.

He was also the President of FAW-Sales Company Ltd. from January 2006 to June 2008.

With more than a 15 percent market share, the Volkswagen Brand occupies a dominant position in China. In the first half year of 2009, the Volkswagen Brand with its two joint ventures further achieved a 22.7 percent sales volume increase over same period 2008, where starting in June Volkswagen Brand delivered more than 100,000 units every month, thus closing the gap to sell more than one million Volkswagen Brand cars by year’s end.
