Superb Trouper Feeling Like a Number One
When the first generation of the modern Skoda Superb was introduced, most could tell that it was generally an elongated Volkswagen Passat. It did make sense back then for the Czech brand to field a car which shared some of its body panels with its German cousin, albeit a longer wheelbase with longer rear doors. You see, in the larger scale of things, Volkswagen was fielding a longer wheelbase version of the Passat in China, where cars with simply more rear legroom were immensely popular.
Fashionable Works
So there was this guy who actually went on to say that it is “Fashionable” for young adults in Singapore not to own a car… How could he say such a thing? Perhaps he’s quite the person lacking in taste. And to say something in such bad taste simply grinds our gears.
You see, there are cars, and there are cars like the MINI… cars with cheeky good looks, added with a dab of good handling and are most definitely “Fashionable”.
EDITOR'S PICKS - Cars for Crazy Smart Asian Heartlanders
We all know that buying a car in Singapore is crazy expensive (thanks to the mandatory COE all car owners have to pay) but that doesn’t mean that owning a car is only for the crazy rich. Well, perhaps not everyone will want to purchase a Mercedes-AMG GT and Audi R8 that can cost as much as a HDB flat, it may be smarter to take a look at how we can stretch our dollars with expensive-looking cars at a good price point or just one that does its job.

aLive and Stunning
The new Lexus LS trims down on weight, and loses two cylinders... how does their new flagship stack up?
Raising a Sting
With the recent launch of the Stinger, we were so sure that KIA’s future range of cars would take a leaf from its styling. The Korean marque has long been one of the go-to brands for those who want a bang-for-buck buy.
A Little Slice of Driver Heaven
Sometimes you might find yourself in a situation where all the stars seem to align. Where everything seems to go the right way, while dodging the bad vibes, yet as the day progresses, little things you have done all seem to fall into the right place.
Die Wahre Sonderklasse
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has long been seen as a benchmark to how a luxury sedan should be built, but it really is much more than that. For the longest time, the car has been seen as the iconic “I have made it” statement, and the facelifted car in our opinion makes it clear why the S-Class can garner such a large following.
Pacing the Noise
The small luxury SUV market is flooded with just so many models. Will Jaguar's E-PACE be able to carve a niche in this category?
Great Expectations
Comfortable, balanced, badass…
The third generation Porsche Cayenne makes even the average driver a pretty decent one. That is something we learnt.
Good Ambitions
The Skoda Octavia is quite the attractive family sedan, while it has wonderfully edgy styling, its practicality we feel is where it really wins.
Roaring 40
So here is the thing, when BMW builds a car, there is almost bound to be some sort of “hot” model. In the X3’s case, right at the top of the food chain, sits the M40i. Basically a straight-six 3.0 dropped into the front of a vanilla X3 to make the car go faster….
EDITOR'S PICKS - VES Neutral Rockets
There’s so many of us who just wants a red Ferrari in our lives. It is speedy, handles well, and let’s face it, a high performance car makes everyone on a wide, open, and non-crowded expressway go green with envy. But, not all of us are lucky enough to be Crazy Rich Asians…
Blue Thunder
I personally think that the Volvo V40 is one of the more underrated cars on our roads. Read on to find out why.
Near Quintessential Sweet Spot
There are times when you adjust the volume on your somewhat expensive sound system, only to realise that a volume control with some kind of notched indexing might not be the best way to build a volume control knob, since the perfect volume might just rest on the bump between two notches. Strangely that would be the sweet spot…
The Definitive F-Word
When the F-Type first made an appearance, the world noticed. Its eye-catching design, hinting strongly of the original E-Type, made waves. Its characteristic flowing lines, purposeful creases, bulges and scoops, together with thin LED lighting boasts of power with a hint of lightness. We certainly loved how the car oozed character, especially when compared to the XK it replaces.
Sonata Sans Cantata
Hyundai’s full-sized sedan gets a crucial makeover. But will all that tinkering be enough to go up against the likes the ever so-popular Toyota Camry and Mazda 6?
EDITOR'S PICKS - Asian Cars Under $100k with No VES Penalties
We’ve previously covered some cars of great value that went under the radar during Phase 2 of the Vehicle Emissions Scheme (VES) where particulate matter was included, and there were some of you who felt that those were cars that were out of reach. Now, we’ve decided to bring you Asian Cars with none of those VES penalties and as a bonus, all of them are reasonably priced under $100k.
Bearmode
Often compared closely to its German parent, the Czech brand tends to have lots of expectations to fulfil… Questions deeply embedded into the heads of would-be buyers would be a mishmash of some the following: “is it as good as”, “Czechoslovakia”... and the like… and for heaven’s sake, the Velvet Revolution has long come and gone!
EDITOR'S PICKS - No VES Penalty? Here Are Some Cars of Great Value to Consider
With the more stringent Phase 2 of the Vehicle Emissions Scheme (VES) kicking in, we have noted that some cars have gone up in price, due to them losing their rebate. There are however, a few cars which have passed through without a dent in their VES rebate, or have even stuck to their initial neutral ranking.
Disco-Plus
It seems like an increasing number of manufacturers have come about to realise that adding an extra pair of seats to a car that has a “behind” adds to its value proposition. The Land Rover Discovery Sport is no exception.
One for All
We can say that we are spoilt for choice nowadays, with vehicles coming in so many different shapes and sizes. Even for those who may be hunting for something less-expensive, may succumb to temptation of having something a little more premium. But that isn’t a bad thing at all really.
That is where the MINI One comes into play.
Compass-Rose
The second generation Jeep Compass still stays true to some the chunky and beefy influences its predecessor left off with, but Jeep has shaken off the tacky styling and have now pen-stroked a car pleasing to the eye.
EDITOR'S PICKS - SUVs for Seven
With the popularity of SUVs, manufacturers are jumping on to the bandwagon by adding more “value” to their vehicles.
Since SUVs have the added advantage of space at the rear, it comes as no real surprise that “value” in some instances could be the addition of extra seating.
Here are what we think are four great “people carrier” SUVs which would rival an MPV!
The Best Blurred Lines
The notion that a coupe can only have two doors has long-disappeared in recent years. Car manufacturers, more eager to meet buyer needs have fielded many a hybridised version of two different car types into one, to make them more appealing and simply more practical.
So we now have “Shooting Brakes” with an extra pair of doors, SUVs which look like coupes and SUVs, which look like… SUVs, while being termed as “Crossovers”. And then there are Coupe’s which have an added pair of doors, which is the box Audi’s A5 falls into.
