Often compared closely to its German parent, the Czech brand tends to have lots of expectations to fulfil… Questions deeply embedded into the heads of would-be buyers would be a mishmash of some the following: “is it as good as”, “Czechoslovakia”... and the like… and for heaven’s sake, the Velvet Revolution has long come and gone!

Some cheap-feeling plastics- heavy rear end does shave off some driving pleasure.
There are other options out there like the Peugeot 5008, with its removable rear seats, quirky dash featuring some wonderful metal buttons, and a little more cargo room, thanks to a longer wheelbase and well-planned packaging. The Skoda on the other hand delivers the goods better (I say this in a more literal sense), all thanks to its more potent 320Nm of ass-hauling ability.
The available 1.4 front-driven variant goes for considerably less coin, in-part thanks to its neutral VES “B” banding, and delivers quite well too, with a respectable 250Nm of torque on tap, and still able to achieve a sub 10 second century sprint.
