New Car Reviews
The People's Karma
Volkswagen's Passat has been around a long time, and has morphed from a tentative toe-in-the-water saloon alternative to the Golf back in 1973 into a very capable, very sophisticated product indeed. The fact this is the eighth generation with the same name and some 22-plus million..
4.0 by four
Gone is the shouty 6.2l AMG V8 engine, to be replaced by a smaller 4.0 biturbo one. But does the compact executive body which seats this new force-fed engine still bring together the whole fast and furious package...

Quiet hunk
Chevrolet have a bit of an uphill battle in many parts of the world with their new, midsize cars. With a reputation based on big gas-guzzlers and tank-like build, they often didn't translate well to other, less HumVee addicted societies. So they asked their Korean offshoot (that used to be called Daewoo) to help out, and presto, here comes the Malibu. It looks solid and reliable, it can impress the stylists if it wants to, and it is (according to most reports) reliable.
A-Class Carrier
Remember the "A-Team" on TV? Their van was the business; it handled brilliantly, could outrun any police car, and was equipped to cope with everything from rocket engine overhaul to brain surgery and multiple high-speed smashes. So when Toyota offered me a Vellfire to review I almost went and got a Mohican haircut.
Korean Pop Icon
So we know that big SUVs can be ungainly around bends and when you want to do some hot-hatchery driving. What about medium SUVs?
For the faithful
Quite possibly the largest offering from Hyundai these days, the Santa Fe is equipped to do a whole lot more than you might ever need in Singapore, but what it does extremely well, is...
Design Departure
What attracts a buyer to a car? Is it curvaceous lines, a cool and aggressive stance, funky LED everything and the spine-tingling whine of a turbo pulling away? If it is, then most buyers would walk right past the new Nissan Almera...
Bavarian bruiser
The biggest, most in your face model you can probably buy from BMW at the moment. But is it all skin and no substance? Let's find out.

Smooth Operator
Car makers sometimes overdo it. "The sensuously shaped surfaces lend it an unmistakable appearance, with the low greenhouse ... the sweep of the high beltline, a modern interpretation of the dropping line, together with a separate swell to the flank." They are talking about a car, not a horse for goodness sakes...
Big Boss
The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is not a brand new car, but an update on the 2014 model reviewed by us in May last year. In that year, it has gained a design update, new interior fittings tweaks, and most importantly a lookalike makeover to bring it in line with the recently launched Q50 sports saloon...
Off-Road Smoothie
The Discovery Sport isn't a sports car masquerading as an off-roader. It isn't a big old tank with a fat engine that can go fast but gets stuck off road. It is part of a family going back almost 60 years and can genuinely handle tough terrain - but not spill your champagne while it does it...
Wind of Change
We all know people like this. They are well-qualified, have good jobs, dress impeccably, have all the right accessories and know all the cool places to be. But do you want to hang out with them? Well, err, it's like, I mean . . . . maybe...

We last tested the BMW 528i about three years ago. Since then, it has undergone a series of tweaks and polishes, but you would be hard pressed to tell the new one from the previous model..
Renault Fluence 1.5 dCi Privilege (A) Review
The French are good at cars. Despite what Daimler would have you believe, a French chap called Edouard Delamare-Deboutteville drove a car of his own design 6km in Normandy, in 1884. That's one year before Carl Benz came up with his first oil-burner on wheels. That of course was back when the roads were narrow, bumpy and congested, going any distance was an uncomfortable experience, fuel was rare and expensive, and finding a reliable powerplant was a major challenge.
BMW's tasty 220i Convertible
