Oneshift.com's 1st Quarter Recommended Cars
We give you, our readers, Oneshift.com's "Recommended Cars for the First Quarter of 2009" - 10 cars you ought to give a second look...

Yes, we're aware of the Toyota Wish's popularity here, but the more modern-looking Stream goes for $65.2k, while the Wish retails for $68.9k. And the Wish not only costs more - it's also showing its age.

The Stream handles pretty much like a sedan too, and that's why it's highly recommended here.

The Toyota Picnic and Previa are both dated. Nissan's new Elgrand may be huge, but at $127k, it also commands an equally huge premium over everything else. At $82.9k, the Honda Odyssey is easily the most practical choice.
Well you could also go with Subaru's 2.0-liter Exiga for around the same price, but it's underpowered - compared to the Odyssey.

If you want a capable SUV for $80k, then the Vitara is the answer. This is an SUV that has true off-road capabilities.
The RAV 4 costs another $5k, while the Subaru Forester XT and Chevy Captiva will both set you back another $4K. According to The Ed, the Vitara is packed with "lots of goodies to give it a touch of luxury and remains one of the most easy-to-live-with SUVs in the market."
Besides, if the 2.4 liter is a bit much for you, there's always the 2.0-liter variant going for $66k.
True, $182K is a lot to pay for a large SUV. But for the price, you get Volvo's legendary safety features, which are just perfect, since XC90 buyers tend to be folks with little tykes in tow.

The Mercedes GL ($345.8k) and Audi Q7 ($249k) are just way too expensive. Besides, you have to admit, Volvo does the family + kids part really well anyway. Need a large SUV with 3 rows of seats? Then look no further.
