All New Infiniti QX50 unveiled at Guangzhou Auto Show
Infiniti unveiled the new QX50 crossover at the 12th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition. Not only has the exterior of the popular QX50 undergone aesthetic changes that reflect the current Infiniti design direction, but the crossover’s overall length is also increased by 80 mm to now measure 4630 mm. Exterior upgrades include a new-look grille and front bumper assembly that incorporate a sportier design headlight as well as standard LED daylight running lights.
The redesigned QX50, which features a wheelbase of 2880 mm, will succeed the current QX50 model. It is the second Infiniti model to be produced locally in China. Production of the Q50L, a longer version of the Q50 Sports Sedan for the Chinese market, officially kicked off earlier this month at the plant in Xianyang, Hubei Province. QX50 production is slated to begin at the end of this year at the same plant.
China continues to be one of Infiniti’s biggest growth markets globally. From January to October 2014, sales of 23,700 were up 85% versus the same January-to-October period in 2013. Infiniti is China’s fastest growing premium brand.
For the Chinese market, the QX50 retains the base 2.5-liter six-cylinder as well as the powerful 351-horsepower 3.7-liter six-cylinder.
Sales of the refreshed QX50 in China will start during the first quarter of 2015. New QX50 production intended for subsequent world markets beyond China will take place at the main Infiniti plant in Tochigi, Japan, where the current QX50 has been produced since its launch.
