Cyclist in ICU after being run over by car

A female cyclist was hit by a car along Mandai Road towards Yishun Avenue 1 on Tuesday night. She was knocked down by a black Honda Accord that was driven by a man in blue camouflage uniform. Eyewitnesses say that the driver drove off without stopping to offer assistance. The cyclist’s sister, one of the eyewitnesses, managed to catch up with the driver of the Accord. She questioned the driver, only for the driver to deny hitting anyone, even though there was visible damage to his windscreen on the left side.

A second eyewitness claims that the man had already been driving unsteadily along the BKE, near the Mandai Road exit. He managed to warn the Accord driver by flashing his headlights at him, thus, preventing contact.

Police issued a statement confirming the presence of the accident at around 9.55pm. The victim is now warded at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital’s ICU. The victim suffered a spinal injury and a blood clot in the brain. It is unclear when she would fully recover.

Police investigations are on-going.
