Martin Brundle takes on ‘Jetman’ with the new Jaguar XJR
Former McLaren F1 driver Martin Brundle piloted a 2016 model year Jaguar XJR in 1.75-mile live car race against ‘Jetman’ Yves Rossy in the Dubai desert. The British firm uses the little race to show off the benefits of lightweight construction on agility, performance and control in the air and on the road.
Also shown off in the clip is the Jaguar XJ’s new All-Surface Progress Control (ASPC), which allows the driver to remain in control behind the wheel regardless of the surface the car is on.
Brundle, now a Sky Sports F1 pundit, had Jaguar-Land Rover’s new all-aluminium 550PS, 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 Jaguar XJR to pull him along, whereas his airborne rival had
a 2m-wide fixed wing, with propulsion courtesy of four Jet-Cat superchargers. The race took place on a closed private road and in the skies above it, and was captured in a three-minute short film. Do check out the short film here!
Jaguar to build the iconic XKSS
Jaguar originally intended to make 25 XKSS, but only 16 found themselves homes. The other 9 were damaged in the famous Browns Lane factory fire. 59 years later, Jaguar Classic will build the nine ‘lost’ XKSS sports cars for a select group of established collectors and customers.
Each of the ultra-exclusive sports car will be hand-built by Jaguar Classic to exact same specification as those made in 1957.
The expertise gained during the construction of the Lightweight E-type project will be transferred to the construction of the nine ultra-exclusive continuations. Each one will be hand-built at Jaguar’s new ‘Experimental Shop’ in Warwick. The price will be in excess of £1 million.
Global Unveiling Of Jaguar Land Rover Bond Cars
Jaguar Land Rover celebrated their vehicles appearing in the new Bond adventure, SPECTRE. Cars, including the Jaguar C-X75, Range Rover Sport SVR and the iconic Land Rover Defender, stole the show as they were unveiled in public for the first time at the palatial Thurn und Taxis in Frankfurt.
Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) and David Bautista (Hinx) were guests of honour at the glamorous event showcasing special stunt vehicles used in the latest instalment of the James Bond series. Guests were entertained by British singer and musician John Newman, who performed a number of top ten hits from his album.
