Schumacher, who has retired from racing, gave advice on traction control, steering and gearbox transmission to developers of the commercial vehicle.

"Part of my new role within Ferrari, is road car testing. I've had to go to several race tracks to test the new car," the German told a news conference.

Ferrari, a sportscar unit of Italy's Fiat, has launched the 430 Scuderia as a special series model using technology derived from its Formula One team. The name Scuderia refers to the company's racing division.

The 430 Scuderia is what the Challenge Stradale was to the 360. Take the basic model (if you could even call it that!), painstakingly re-engineer the thing to drop 100kg, and hit it square in the middle to give it a nice hump on it's front end.

The Scuderia's powertrain also gets upped to 510hp, 27hp more than that of the 4.3L V8 found in the "standard" F430. A potent contender to the Porsche GT3RS(R?) and the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera?
