GER: Toyota Prius sets new Nurburgring record

Toyota is no stranger to the Nurburgring. Over the years, they have developed many high performance cars at the famous German circuit, the most recognisable of which, is their glorious sounding LFA. When it came to testing their latest tuned vehicle, it made perfect sense to unleash it on the Green Hell. Just like 918, Toyota’s latest test car is also a hybrid. It is also low to the ground, and packs new aerodynamics. Nope, it isn’t a new hybrid sports car, it simply is a slightly reworked Prius! The idea behind the run was to see how little fuel could be used. The boffins at Toyota charged up the batteries onboard the car, slapped on some low-rolling-resistance rubber, and chucked an automotive journalist behind the wheel. The Prius managed to lap the Nurburging in 20 minutes, using just 5 table spoons of petrol. It may have taken a very long time, but when the Prius crossed the finish line it took home the honours of having the best MPG around the Nurburgring of 698 miles per gallon!
