Independent Asian Auto Racing Team to Field the Ferrari 488 GT3 in International GT Championships
A first in Southeast Asia, T2 Motorsports Racing is founded by racing drivers and entrepreneurs; Singaporean, Gregory Teo and Indonesian, David Tjiptobiantoro, both have a broad experience in several international racing events such as the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific. This special partnership is the first cross-straits racing team formed between Singapore and Indonesia.
The team is completed by two other drivers, Head Coach for Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific, Christian Colombo from Italy and noted Korean actor Jeong Hoon Yeon (of “East of Eden” and “Vampire Prosecutor” fame).
First unveiled at the 2015 Finali Mondiali in Mugello, Tuscany, Italy, the Ferrari 488 GT3 represents a major break with the past. A completely new car, built from the ground up with the aim of providing even greater performance, while keeping the same amazing driveability of the original 458 Italia. With a chassis made entirely of aluminium; it is light and rigid, delivering great reactivity and precision. Designed with the requirements of endurance racing in mind, the fuel cell ensures perfect fuel scavenging at all times and the car is fitted with a racing suspension developed specifically for it.
The turbocharged V8 engine is where the most radical changes can be found. Calling on Ferrari’s knowhow in producing efficient, high performance engines, the racing version of the V8 engine delivers the highest levels of driveability while reducing almost to zero any disadvantages from the engine type. The other major breakthrough is in the transversely mounted gearbox, as opposed to a more traditional longitudinal mount. The decision was made due to aerodynamic requirements of the car, allowing for extreme configurations, making the car even more manageable for the drivers.
T2 Motorsports Racing will be competing in several international championships for the GT3 class beginning with the Intercontinental GT Challenge – Sepang 12 hours in December, followed by the Asian Le Man Series – Sepang 4 hours in January, 2017.
