Local News: A successful launch for Volkswagen’s new MPV
It’s official: the new Volkswagen Touran is one of the fastest MPVs on the market – not just on the road, but also on the sales floor.
Over the launch weekend of 20 to 21 November 2010, 114 customers in Singapore chose to buy a new Touran. This is in addition to the 27 customers who confirmed their orders even before the car went on display in the Volkswagen showroom. Therefore, as at the end of 21 November 2010, 141 Tourans had been sold.
The launch activities continue this weekend, with Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer making special appearances at Volkswagen Centre Singapore on 27 and 28 November 2010. Additionally, activities like balloon sculpting, face painting and badge making will keep the whole family entertained before and after test driving the new Touran.
Two versions of the new Touran are available, both powered by the multi award-winning 1.4 TSI Twincharger engine. The Touran 1.4 TSI produces 140bhp and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, while the 170bhp Touran Sport 1.4 TSI does the same sprint in 8.5 seconds.
Despite its strong performance, the Touran remains the most economical car in its class, consuming just 6.6 litres of fuel per 100 km, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 154 g/km.
