Volkswagen Centre Singapore is celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year in a very special way – by launching a limited edition version of the Golf.

The Golf Rabbit has exclusive, factory-fitted features that set it apart from the competition. These include multi-spoke ‘Pescara’ 16-inch alloy wheels, a Keyless Entry Start and Exit System (KESSY) and an engine start-stop button. A special Rabbit badge on the tailgate identifies this limited edition model.

KESSY offers the driver the highest level of convenience as the
transmitter need not necessarily be held in the hand to enter and start the car. As soon as a driver enters a radius of approximately 1.5 metres around the vehicle, the transmitter is identified by the proximity sensors in the door handles and by a radio impulse sensor in the key housing.

Touching the door handles or the logo on the boot lid automatically
unlocks the vehicle. The release of the steering lock and the ignition of the engine are carried out by pressing the start-stop button on the steering column. After leaving the vehicle, the driver can lock the vehicle by pressing the integrated lock buttons on the exterior door handles.

Ensuring that the Golf Rabbit always has a spring in its step is a powerful 1.4-litre TSI engine with 122 bhp. This is mated to Volkswagen’s highly acclaimed 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox. The car sprints from 0-100 km/h in only 9.5 seconds, yet consumes only 6.0 litres of fuel per 100 km, and emits just 138 g/km of CO2.

Sales of the Golf Rabbit start on 29 January 2011, and only 50 units will ever be made available in Singapore. It is priced at $111,800 with COE – identical to the existing Golf 1.4 TSI.
