Local News: Honda Fit Jazz Freed & City Being Recalled

Honda will recall model years 2009 and 2010 vehicles to replace the lost motion springs, components within the engine valvetrain. An expected 700,000 units of the iconic vehicle will be affected globally.

Honda will recall model years 2009 and 2010 vehicles to replace the lost motion springs, components within the engine valvetrain.

The lost motion springs, which are compressed by rocker arms in normal engine use, may bend or break over time due to insufficient lubricant, resulting in abnormal engine noise and potentially causing engine damage or stalling. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this defect.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda by mail. Notification to customers will begin in early March 2011.

The information gathered from LTA's Electronic Vehicle Recall System indicated the recall number to be R2011020014. Owners can confirm the status of the recall for their vehicle by accessing the system at

According to local unofficial sources, the recall should be starting from this coming Monday 7 March 2011.
