Mazda unveils Nagare prototype at LA Autoshow

Mazda is certainly making bold design the mainstay of its product line up, the most recent being the sensational CX-7. And we can expect even more exciting designs from the Hiroshima-based company if the Nagare is anything to go by.

Shown at the LA Autoshow, the Nagare follows Mazda concept cars like the Sassou, Senku and Kabura that have displayed both exciting design and innovative packaging solutions.

In the case of the Nagare, the idea is to look forward to the year 2020 and design an emotion inspiring high-speed sports car. Using wind-blown desert shapes and wave-like sea movements as inspiration, the design team at Mazda’s California studios have given the Nagare a bold and simple form, with interesting details. To keep its design as clean as possible, the Nagare has two huge doors that open upward, revealing its three-seater cabin – a central forward position for the driver, and two rear seats.

Beneath its sleek hood, the Nagare has a hydrogen-powered rotary Wankel engine.
