Meet The Porsche 911 GT4 R: A New Customer Racer For 2027
Porsche is expanding its customer racing lineup with a faster, more capable GT4 machine based on the 911.

Porsche has pulled the wraps off the new 911 GT4 R, marking the first time its global GT4 customer race car is based on the 911 instead of the Cayman.

The new racer is set to hit the track in the 2027 season, with prices starting from €265,000 before taxes.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six shared with the 911 Cup car, producing up to 520 PS and 470 Nm. As with all GT4 machinery, output will vary under each championship's Balance of Performance rules, with the car delivered in 430 PS trim.

A six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters sends power to the rear wheels.

Compared to the Cayman-based GT4 Clubsport, the 911 GT4 R packs a wider track, upgraded motorsport electronics and chassis tweaks designed to improve pace, stability and drivability.

Weight-saving remains a priority, with natural fibre-reinforced composite used for parts including the doors, engine cover, aerodynamic pieces and sections of the cockpit. Inside, drivers get a 10.3-inch display, built-in data logger and GPS system for race analysis.

The launch reflects the rapid growth of GT4 racing, which has become one of the world's biggest customer motorsport categories and a key stepping stone to GT3 competition.
Porsche has built more than 1,500 Cayman-based GT4 race cars since entering the category in 2016. The new 911 GT4 R opens a fresh chapter by bringing the brand's most famous sports car into GT4 racing for the first time.
