New Mazda6 on sale now!
Mazda Motor Singapore has unveiled the stylish new Mazda6, available in saloon and hatchback forms.
Prices for the new models, which follow a “Bold and Exquisite” design philosophy, will start from S$88,488 for the base 2.0-litre V-Grade Sedan model, all the way to S$100,488 for the 2.5-litre R-Grade Sedan.
Only the 2.0-litre sedan will have the V-Grade trim version, while the hatchback and the 2.5-litre ones get the R-Grade.
The basic 2.0-litre V-Grade contains standard features like keyless entry, high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, electronically adjustable seats, paddle shifters, dual-climatic air-conditioning and six airbags.
On top of the list of goodies, improvements have been made to its chassis, resulting in a lighter and more torsionally rigid body. The 2.0-litre sedan's weight is now 1382 kg (with a 90 percent fuel load), while the hatchback is a slightly heavier 1416 kg with the same load.
Its engine puts out the same figures as its previous version, producing 147 hp at 6,500 rpm and 186 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
The next-up version of the Mazda6, the 2.5-litre R-Grade, features a delightful eight-speaker sound system from Bose, an engine start button and sunroof and also 18-inch alloy rims.
Basically an enlarged engine from the 2.3-litre, this new block fires up 169 hp at 6,000 rpm and 228 Nm at 4,000 rpm. A zero-to-hundred run is completed in 9.5 seconds, while your fuel burns up at 11.36 km/l if you are driving conservatively.
The new Mazda6 has been widened and also has had its wheelbase lengthened. As a result, passengers in the rear get 13 mm more legroom.
Other notable improvements include a drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.27, better visibility through the rear windscreen and Front Active Head Restraints, which is a first for Mazda.
