New Models: New-look Subaru Impreza in Japan
Subaru has launched the new-look Impreza WRX STi in Japan, with new front bumper, grille and headlights giving a clear resemblance to the Tribeca 4x4 and enhanced aerodynamics - and an increase in length of nearly 2 inches.

The cabin has been overhauled for improved quality, and the driver control centre differential, four-wheel drive system and new torque-sensing limited-slip differential refining handling, improving stability and high-speed responses. Power output remains the same at 262 bhp, but torque has been upped to 311 lb ft (from 253lb ft).
This is just an interim refresh, however, before the all-new range (co-developed with Saab for its next 9-2) arrives in 2007. The all-new Impreza is said to have its engine mounted front-midships (i.e. much further back in the engine bay and behind the front axle, but still in front of the driver), and could come in three- or five-door hatch form as well as four-door saloon. Longer-wheelbase, raised-suspension Outback wagon versions are also rumoured, and power outputs of up to 320 bhp.
Worth the wait for some.
