Opel Named “Most Innovative Brand 2010”
Rüsselsheim/Cologne. The winners of the “Plus X Award 2010”, the world’s largest contest for technologies, sport and lifestyle products, were announced at an awards ceremony in Cologne.

Opel played a starring role, with the Meriva winning the categories innovation, design, functionality and ergonomics, and the Astra also coming out on top in design, functionality and ergonomics. T
hanks to these victories in a total of seven categories, Opel also received the “Most Innovative Brand 2010” award in the automotive sector, beating out automakers in the premium and sports car areas. The Meriva and Astra were also named “Best Product of the Year 2010” in their respective segments.
Over one thousand products were submitted for the Plus X Awards and were assessed by a 144-member jury hailing from 32 countries. Exceptional achievements in the categories innovation, quality, design, operating comfort, ergonomics and ecology were honored.
After the Opel Insignia was awarded the Seal of Quality for Innovations for its front camera in 2009, Opel has once again demonstrated its expertise with the Astra and Meriva.
“I am very proud of these awards,” says Alain Visser, Vice President Sales, Marketing & Aftersales.
“They show that our brand strengths like design and functionality are also recognized and commended by the neutral jurors of the Plus X Award. And this again confirms that ergonomics is also a plus point that plays an increasingly larger role.”
Over 150,000 orders for the Opel Astra have been received throughout Europe.
