Passat now with DSG
Updated version of the Passat saloon, now with a twin-clutch 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) will launch tomorrow

Volkswagen's executive saloon, the Passat will now come with a 7-speed DSG as standard. Compared to its predecessor with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the new DSG-equipped Passat consumes 15 percent less fuel in the urban driving cycle. It is also 11 percent more economical overall, with a combined fuel consumption figure of just 7.3 litres/100km. At the same time, carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced from 195 to 172g/km.
Improved efficiency and smoother gear changing aside, the 7-speed DSG also delivers better acceleration - the new Passat with its powerful 160bhp 1.8-litre TSI engine accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds, 0.5 seconds quicker than the previous model.
Changes to the interior include a new-generation steering wheel with revised multi-function controls for direct access to the audio and trip computer functions, a new gear lever with a DSG logo and new instrument dial layout with white backlighting for superior legibility.
Other noteworthy standard features are the touch-screen audio system with built-in 6 CD autochanger, keyless entry and starting system and 12-way electric seat adjustment for both sports front seats, which are upholstered in alcantara and leather.
The Passat 1.8 TSI DSG is priced at $120,300 with COE.
