Porsche Mission S Previews A New Mid-Engined Sports Car Above The 911
Five circular instruments, physical controls and a retractable smartphone holder give Porsche's Mission S a refreshingly old-school approach to a future supercar.

Porsche is looking beyond the 911. Meet the Mission S, a vision model that previews the brand's future design direction and a new mid-engined sports car platform positioned above its iconic rear-engined coupe.

And this isn't necessarily a one-off showpiece. Porsche intends the platform to underpin a permanent addition to its model line-up, although production plans, powertrain details and performance figures have yet to be announced.
The Mission S takes inspiration from some of Porsche's greatest hits, including the 911, 959, 917, 928 and GT1. Rounded headlights, muscular front fenders, an integrated active rear wing and lightweight-inspired wheels give it a familiar yet distinctly modern look.

Inside, Porsche is making a case for putting the driver back in the driving seat - literally. Five circular instruments sit behind the steering wheel, including an analogue rev counter, while physical switches and push-pull controls bring a more tactile feel to the cabin.
Even the infotainment setup takes a different approach. Instead of a permanently mounted centre touchscreen, the Mission S features a retractable, MagSafe-compatible smartphone holder for navigation and other information.

Unveiled in Queens, New York, the Mission S shows how Porsche wants to push its sports cars forward without leaving its heritage behind.
