SG: The New Volkswagen Touareg R-Line makes its Debut

Built for the great outdoors as well as the urban jungle, the new Touareg R-Line makes its debut in Singapore on 31 August 2013. It joins the Tiguan R-Line and the CC R-Line as the newest member of the R-Line range in Singapore. After the successful launch of the Touareg Edition X in May 2013, the new Touareg R-Line further strengthens the line-up with genuine off-road capabilities paired with a sportier design. In addition to the generous standard equipment of the regular Touareg, air suspension with electronic shock absorption control and ‘Tarragona’ 20-inch alloy wheels from Volkswagen R GmbH come as standard. Front and rear bumpers in R design complement the R-Line emblems on the front side panels.

The interior features decorative inserts in Black Piano Lacquer laid for the dashboard, door trim panels and centre console, while stainless steel scuff plates with 'Volkswagen Exclusive' lettering are visible every time the doors are opened. A Dynaudio Confidence sound system with 10 passive speakers, 2 centre speakers and 620 Watts of power makes every journey a pleasure. A unique feature of the Touareg R-Line is its two-tone upholstery, combining a Volkswagen Exclusive interior with the sporty exterior looks.

Power comes from either a 3.6 V6 petrol engine or a highly efficient 3.0 V6 TDI Clean Diesel unit. The former has 280 bhp (6,200rpm) and 360 Nm of torque (4,000rpm), giving a fuel consumption of only 9.9 L/100km in the combined cycle. The latter has 245 bhp (3,800 rpm –4,400 rpm) and 550 Nm (1,750 rpm –2,750 rpm), consuming only 7.2 L/100km in the combined cycle.

Making use of this power as efficiently as possible is an 8-speed automatic gearbox, as well as permanent all-wheel drive courtesy of 4MOTION – allowing the Touareg R-Line to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in only 7.8 seconds (3.6 V6) and 7.6 seconds (3.0 V6 TDI).

As Volkswagen’s flagship SUV, the Touareg R-Line comes fully equipped with key features such as ‘Climatronic’ with 4-zone climate control, a 360-degree ‘Area View’ camera system, front ventilated seats with active climate control, a RNS 850 navigation system with an 8-inch high resolution display and a panoramic tilt/slide sunroof.

The launch prices of the Touareg R-Line are $328,300 (3.0 V6 TDI) and $338,300 (3.6 V6), with COE.
