Singapore 2006 Seeks Drivers to Chauffeur Delegates

1. The Singapore 2006 Organising Committee is recruiting over 600 individuals as drivers to chauffeur delegates of Singapore 2006 around town in September this year. 2. These drivers will be tasked to provide excellent service to delegates including heads of government, finance ministers, central bank governors, top financiers and chief executives when they visit Singapore between 13 and 20 September 2006. The delegates will attend the many business meetings and events of Singapore 2006, including the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group. 3. COL Lim Sau Siong, Chairman of the Singapore 2006 Transport Subcommittee said: “We would like to encourage more people to come forward to join us in this exciting event and serve as chauffeurs for our guests during their stay in Singapore.” 4. The recruitment exercise seeks drivers with ‘ambassadorial qualities’ for Singapore, highly conversant in English, at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Class 3 driving licence and have a good knowledge of Singapore roads. There is no restriction on gender. The recruitment for drivers is being managed by C&P Rent-A-Car Pte Ltd (RAC), the company appointed by Performance Motors Limited (PML) to provide driver services for Singapore 2006. BMW Asia and PML, lead partner of Singapore 2006, will be providing a fleet of more than 420 units of their latest 7 Series cars for the event. 5. Drivers selected for the BMW cars will be put through a specially tailored training programme to familiarize themselves with the functions of the cars and be equipped with service skills to ensure our guests experience smooth and enjoyable journeys. In addition, drivers will also receive an attractive allowance in appreciation of their efforts. 6. Managing Director for PML, Mr Simon Rock, said:” The build-up to Singapore 2006 is an exciting time for us. We have worked together with RAC to supply cars and chauffeur services for previous events such as Asian Aerospace 2004 and 2006.
