Two World Premieres For Maserati At the Geneva Motor Show

The International Maserati Gathering celebrating the company's 100 year anniversary is due to begin in Modena on Thursday, 18 September, and end in Turin on Saturday, 20 September 2014.  The 3-day gathering will see a succession of exhibitions, parades, a regularity race, a track test, a visit to the two Maserati factories and a concours d'elegance.  Cars and collectors from all over the world are expected to be in attendance. A hundred years have gone by since, in December of 1914, Alfieri Maserati and his brothers Ettore and Ernesto opened the first car repair workshop in a basement on Via de’ Pepoli, Bologna. Here, before Italy entered the First World War and in the months that immediately followed the end of the conflict, they began to prepare and modify cars for themselves – the three Maserati brothers were also capable drivers – and the gentleman drivers of the period. These were the first steps of a company that in time was to become an international icon of Italian motoring.

After making its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Maserati has revealed an exclusive limited edition Maserati Quattroporte in collaboration with luxury Italian fashion house, Ermenegildo Zegna. Just 100 examples of the limited series will be built which feature color schemes, materials and exclusive trims which link the histories of the two brands. To celebrate the launch of the Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition, Maserati and Zegna are embarking on a tour of four international events starting in Shanghai in July 2014 before stopping in New York (Sept 2014), Dubai (Feb 2015) and Milan (Spring 2015).

Maserati has a lot to celebrate at the 15th annual Goodwood Revival, the largest historic motor race meeting, which welcomed over 145,000 spectators over the course of the weekend.  This year, not only was Maserati celebrating 99 years since it was first established in 1914, but also the 50th anniversary of the Quattroporte. Fifty years since its launch in 1963, Maserati celebrated the success of the unrivaled sporting four door saloon, showing both its first and latest version in the Earls Court Motor Show.  The latest version of the Quattroporte reinterprets the characteristics of the classic Maseratis in a contemporary way. It boasts an entirely new V8 engine delivering 530hp and a 410hp V6 engine, coupled with an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox.
