Volkswagen Group Singapore launches diesel cars in Singapore
Volkswagen Group Singapore officially launches passenger diesel cars in Singapore with the Touareg R50, Touareg V6 TDI and Polo BlueMotion

Volkswagen Group Singapore (VGS) is forging ahead with the launch of a series of clean and powerful diesel cars, on the heels of the government's announcement of a diesel tax revision.
The first Volkswagen passenger diesel cars on the market is the impressively powerful Touareg R50 TDI, an SUV that is fun to drive and runs on a ten-cylinder engine boasting 850Nm of torque. Also in Volkswagen's stable of passenger diesel cars is the Touareg V6 TDI, which has a torque of 500Nm.
VGS is also bringing in the Polo BlueMotion, an economical 5-seater car that brings fuel economy and dynamics into harmony. The Polo BlueMotion, already low on fuel consumption, emits only 99g of CO2 per kilometre.
Every Polo BlueMotion sold comes with 7 trees as "standard equipment" - working with the Singapore Environment Council and the Garden City Fund, VGS will be planting 7 trees for every Polo BlueMotion sold. This is because it takes 7 trees to absorb a year's worth of CO2 emission from a Polo Bluemotion.
BlueMotion is Volkswagen's proud environmental badge that is synonymous with the highest levels of efficiency and economy. It also represents the Volkswagen's brand commitment to the environment.
Dr. Olaf Duebel, Managing Director of VGS said, "In Singapore, there are many commercial vehicles like taxis and buses using diesel engines - but not in passenger cars. With the Singapore government's move of a diesel tax revision, it is timely to let Singaporeans know that diesel doesn't have to be dirty - Volkswagen can offer diesel passenger cars that are clean, powerful and fun to drive."
