VW Takes over the reigns of retail in Singapore
Volkswagen, one of the world's leading car manufacturers, announced today that it has established its own retail operations in Singapore. This is the first time a car manufacturer has deided to take on the retail business directly in Singapore.

The move underscores Volkswagen's strong commitment to become a key player in the Singapore market. This also allows Volkswagen to enhance the end-to-end Volkswagen experience for customers.
The move follows the mutual agreement between Volkswagen and Car & Cars Pte Ltd to part ways, thereby allowing both companies to pursue different business interests in different segments.
Dr Olaf Duebel, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Singapore, said, "Singapore is a very important market for Volkswagen. I am excited to announce the start of Volkswagen's own retail business here. This is a mature yet growing market. Consumers are more discerning and more aware of the different brands and product offerings available. We are convinced that Volkswagen, as the leading car manufacturer in Germany, can play a significant rold in Singapore."
By taking on the retail business of Volkswagen's Passenger Cars and Light Commercial Vehicles, Volkswagen will continue to expand its comprehensive offering of models, providing customers with more choices for different lifestyles at every stage of their lives.
One of the first models to be launched under Volkswagen's retail business is the highly-anticipated Golf GT. As the world's first car to be equipped with Volkswagen's revolutionary TSI twincharger engine, the Golf GT will lead Volkswagen's 2007 model offensive, with another six new models in the pipeline.
