Audi A3 Sportback SE 2.0 TFSI DSG Review: Achtung! Dieses Auto ist die Bombe!

Okay, we’re sorry that we are a little late for the party, but that doesn’t mean the excitement’s over. And thank goodness we didn’t miss out on this one! After having spent a good amount of time with the car, I found it difficult to bear parting with it.

Pullin’ G’s, pulling away and pulling over

Here’s the interesting bit (for the heavier right-footed ones of you). When this car turns hard, it does roll, but only to a very minimal extent. It is noticeable, but barely so as it quickly gets dampened out, without being too harsh on your back.

Despite it also being a front-engined, front-wheel drive, it barely behaves like one and yet, doesn’t fail to instill confidence in the driver. While that is good when you want to treat yourself a little, it does also work out well for the drive around town.

The steering is slightly on the dull side, but then again for a car that placed comfort first, one couldn’t possibly be expecting every crack and tiny stone on the road to be felt with your hands on the wheel.

It is also a little light, but that’s good because it means your wife can do the school run, too, without coming home with slightly more masculine arms.

City-driving would require one to be light-footed – and you would prefer it that way as well, unless you’re the sort of person who enjoys regular rides inside your washing machine.

The relevant torque you get is amazing, and although it is a little on the high side, it is extremely useful if you needed to just turn out of a slip-road and join the rest of the cars who didn’t give way to you.

So, at the end of the night, when it was time to switch off the lights and head home for bed, somehow, I just sat in my seat, admiring everything around and couldn’t really bear to leave it.

I remembered one thing – that if one were to part with this sort of money for this car, he or she wouldn’t need to worry because word from the horse’s mouth is that the service, and after-sales support from Audi is excellent.

And no, I’m not being paid to mention that.

It’s not a car which will send shivers down a passer-by’s spine with just its looks, but it would impress. It will also settle down nicely on a highway for a comfortable, long-distance journey; but if for some reason you felt you needed to stretch your right leg, it would also impress.

And that is exactly why I am in love this car- because it does its bidding, and it does it well.
