It's a well-mannered hatch, and with its generous equipment list, you're blind to give it a miss

A sporty sort of handling, and a sporty set of kit – that’s about how “sports-ly” it can get. If you’re expecting it to be something like what the Suzuki Swift Sport has, then we’ll have to say sorry, and go look elsewhere.

Instead, what it offers is a car that’s practical and spacious at the same time, and with that new CVVT lump with a tiptronic function for its ‘box, give the Cerato that much needed pulling power and refinement.

It’s a convincing car, and with the affordable $47,999 asking price, there’s nothing else you can ask for. Well, it has its little flaws, but overlook all that and what you have here is an already good car. If the idea of having fun behind a steering wheel while being on a public road hasn’t become a conflict, if you can get something practical and decently put together, if it doesn’t cost and arm and a leg, yet still provides a grin or two whatever your level of driving skill, then there’s really no other choice – the Cerato ticks all the above boxes.
